Match Report - 10th August 2014 Premier League:- Queens Head 4 v 1 Smack-My-Pitch-Up (Beasley 2, Taylor-Harris, M.ODonoghue; Howard) Queens Head got over their recent poor displays with an impressive 4-1 win over Smack-My-Pitch-Up. Queens have lost their last few games and it looked to be going a similar way when Pitch Up raced into a 1-0 lead literally from the off when Kirk Howard smashed home. But Queens responded well and were level midway through the first half when defender Gary Taylor-Harris who volleyed home and just before half time, Matt Beasley fired home to turn the game on its head at the break. In the second half, Queens started to dominate and further goals from Beasley and Matt ODonoghue ensured they took the points to give them a chance to compete for the title. Athletico Kebab 2 v 1 NotInMtMums Forest (Brown, Neaves; Wilson-Bel) Athletico Kebab continued their impressive form, beating NotInMyMums Forest 2-1. Forest had one their last two games and were looking good to challenge for the title but had a major set-back tonight. Kebab started very well and went in front through a fine finish at the second opportunity from Gavin Brown giving his side a deserved lead at the break. In the second half, Kebab continued to create chances and a fine long range effort from Matt Neaves nestled in the top corner giving them a vital 2 goal lead, which was needed as a late strike from Brad Wilson-Bel left Kebab sweating but they defended well and took the vital points. Lolzors 2 v 0 Almighty Average (Slingsby, Leopard) Almighty Average faced league leaders and last seasons champions Lolzors in the last premier league game of the night. In a lively entertaining game, both sides had chances early on but it was a fine strike from Ashley Slingsby from a free-kick that gave Lolzors the lead before half time. In the second half, both sides pressed and Average went close through captain Dan Jackson and Josh Andrews but slightly against the run of play, Kieron Leopard finished brilliantly to give Lolzors an important 2-0 lead. Almighty tried to find a response but good defending from Lolzors frustrated Almighty and Lolzors remain top of the league table. Division One:- Call of Guti 1 v 0 Moves Like Dejagah (Boulden) The first game of the evening resulted in in Call of Guti securing a vital win over challengers Dejagah. In a very tight game, it was Matt Bouldens first half strike that proved to be decisive. Both teams created plenty of chances, with Prytherch of Dejagah and Boulden of Guti both having decent chances but not finding the net. Guti held firm and secured the important points that see them move into contention for the title. Team Heskey 0 v 10 Rockaway United (Cooper 3, White 3, Hopkins 2, Harper, Hawkins) Rockaway continued their unbeaten run as they recorded a decent win against Team Heskey. Rockaway managed to find the net with a fine team move direct from kick off, with Billy Cooper scoring his first if the evening before Team Heskey managed a touch of the ball. Ben White added Rockaways second goal, before a Team Heskey rallied briefly and held firm for the remainder if the half. In the second half, Rockaway camped in the Team Heskey half and both Cooper and White completed their hat-tricks, either side of a Steve Hopkins Brace. Sion Harper and Craig Hawkins completed the rout for Rockaway. Real Ale Madrid 4 v 1 Ball Lane VI (Smith 2, Alexander, Oatham; M.ODonoghue) Real Ale continued their winning streak adding 4 goals to their tally against the Ball Lane VI. Real Ale found themselves 2 up at half time with Calvin Smith finding the net on both occasions after dominating the first half. Real Ale continued in the second as they finished the first half, and looked dangerous on the attack with Latter and Fellowes stretching the VI defence. Ball Lane pulled a goal back through a fine strike from Matt ODonoghue however as the game approached its end, Real Ale found the net a further 2 times through Ally Alexander and Josh Oatham, to secure a 4-1 victory. Team Melt 1 v 1 Ashford No-Stars (Stickles; Hamilton) New side Team Melt started their Ball Lane league campaign with an impressive 1-1 draw with Ashford No-Stars. No-Stars have been the league leaders for the majority of the season so far but lost out last week and found it tough against Melt this week. The new side started very well and were in front when Nick Stickles finished well under the keeper giving them a deserved lead. No-Stars however responded with Carl Hamilton curling in a fine effort from range. In the second half, both keepers made several fine saves to keep their sides level and neither side could find the winner, meaning Team Melt earned an impressive point, to get their campaign going. Team of the Week:- Goalkeeper Matt Scott (Athletico Kebab) Was in fine form, making several saves to ensure Kebab took a 2-1 win. Defender Matt Toohey (Lolzors) Continued his fine form at the back, leading Lolzors to another vital victory. Defender Billy Cooper (Rockaway United) Scored a fine hat-trick and set up a few more in Uniteds 10-0 win over Team Heskey. Midfield/Attack Matt Neaves (Athletico Kebab) In fine form, scoring the winner in their 2-1 win over Forest Midfield/Attack Matt Beasley (Queens Head) Returned to form with a fine brace for Queens in their 4-1 win over Smack-My-Pitch-Up. Striker Calvin Smith (Real Ale Madrid) Scored a fine brace in Madrids 4-1 win over Ball Lane VI Goal of the Week:- Carl Hamilton (Ashford No-Stars v Team Melt) Picked up the ball midway through the Team Melt half, scoring an unstoppable effort into the top left hand corner to bring his side level.
