Match Report - Sat 24/05/14 versing Burleigh Black at home 9am. Todays game was played in warm conditions that would test a side that had some members of the playing group recovering from a virus that had a few missing training during the week. Coach Trevor was aware that he would need to rotate the boys on and off the bench at a higher than normal rate. The match got underway perfectly with an immediate forward entry resulting in a major to Cameron Arthur within the first minute of the game. Excellent play by the boys continued and our opponents were kept goaless for the term whilst we managed two ourselves. Unfortunately, the second quarter was disappointing. We stopped to a halt. There was no run, no aggression and we were completely outplayed. Seven goals to nil resulted in Coach Trevor giving our boys an almighty half time rev up. It was exactly the tonic needed. Three goals to two in the third term put us back in the scheme of things but it was still going to require a massive effort in the final term to cross the line in front. If our second quarter was possibly our worst of the season, our final quarter was arguably our finest. Up till then, the usual suspects had been strong performers. Lochlan Cassidy and Jai Barron continued their fine form from last week, Will Harlow and Kegan Morton played their usual aggressive games and Jordy Williams dangerous as ever with two goals. However, the last quarter comeback was inspired by Campbell Logie. His play was outstanding with three goals, ably assisted up forward by Drew Smith who played his best game of the season thus far. Other strong performances from Zack Dwight, Joel Levis, Blake McGrath and Jamie Wittwer , under the Captaincy of Jimmy Howard, allowed us to kick four goals, four behinds to nothing to complete a comeback for the ages. Awesome effort, boys ! Goals - C Logie (3) L Cassidy (2) J Williams (2) C Arthur (1) J Wittwer (1) Coaches awards - Campbell Logie (MVP), Will Harlow (Best Team Player), Drew Smith (Most Determined). Thanks to all the volunteers, Goalie Brad, Timekeeper Julian, Doc Tara (ice magic !) , Betty and Scott for the photos, well done. Its Tiger Time ! Match Day Reporter, Paul King.
