Match Report Lady Reds Rnd 13 Kingston City FC vs Monash Uni SC By Maria Gaitanis | Wednesday 31st July 2013 The Lady Reds were playing back at the Grange on Sunday afternoon trying to overturn a two match losing streak hosting visitors Monash Uni. With a depleted squad & one substitute KC took to the field with confidence trying to dig their way out of their mid season slump. It was the visitors though who looked dangerous first, with a couple of attacks at goal testing fill in keeper Maria G. As the home side settled they started to control more possession of the ball. KC had a few chances to open the score line but their shots were either off target or saved as the MU keeper was up to the challenge. Both sides could not break each other down going into the half time break 0-0. KC started the second half much stronger immediately attacking & applying pressure to the visitors. The deadlock was broken in the 52min when a corner was awarded to KC. Tina swung the ball into the box as MU failed to clear, midfielder Nicole slammed the ball from close range to hand KC a 1-0 lead. Celebrations were short lived though as in the 60th min MU equalised through a mistake in the back line, keeper G tried to clear the ball but it clipped the oncoming MU striker gifting her an open goal & levelling the score 1-1. KC kept up the intensity as they tried hard to grab a late winner. Striker Tina came close on many occasions but could not seal the deal as both teams had to settle for a final 1-1 draw. Well done girls on a great effort, with many players missing you all played extremely well. Well done also to Nicole for scoring her very first goal in a red guernsey. Final score Kingston City 1-1 Monash Uni.
