Match Report – Tankerton Under 16’s vs Ramsgate Tankerton Under 16’s new season in Division two commenced with a trip to Ramsgate to play a newly promoted side who were excited about their prospects for the new campaign. Tankerton started the game with the following line-up – Crane, Whyte, Agada, Bardrick, White, Todd, Russell, Dale, Roffe, Hinchcliffe and French – with Ginnaw, Gore and Fairweather as the roll-on-roll-off substitutes. The visitors were on top right from the off with the midfield leading the early stages with some delightful one-two touch passing. In the first 10 minutes Tankerton’s defence wasn’t threatened whereas, by contrast, Ramsgate’s defence came under constant attack. As many would have expected, it was the boys in blue who got the early lead with French showing great control to volley the ball into the net after great play on the wing by Hinchcliffe, White and Roffe. From then on in, Ramsgate needed a miracle if they were to withstand this Tankerton pressure without their goal net being rattled a second time. Tankerton came forward time and time again with French getting his second after no time. At 2-0 Ramsgate appeared to get back into the game but Tankerton’s defence stood strong under attack and then, on the stroke of half time the visitors added a third with French getting his second hat trick in as many games. Early in the second half Ramsgate had the upper hand as they used the wind in their favour to put pressure on Crane and the four defenders. But again the back four was resilient and Tankerton responded in the best possible way to the unexpected pressure by adding a fourth from the goal machine that is French. At 4-0 Tankerton could relax now and play their football. They even added a fifth after a cross from French was met by Roffe at the far post who headed it in with ease to bring the three points and a very convincing goal difference. By Adam Whyte
