Matcha , the oldest tea found in Japan, has seen a huge bloom in the last few years. Newly introduced to the western palette its popularity is still growing! We will be holding a Match course on September 19th with a special treat of traditional Japanese tea ceremony treats. If you are interested please contact the shop for more info. With several different grades its easier to classify Matcha into thick and thin grades. The thin grades of this finely powdered tea are great for the everyday tea drinker brining many antioxidants and vitamin benefits to the table. The thicker grades are reserved for tea ceremonies . Chado, literally translated as the way of tea , became ritualized in 1550 by a Japanese tea master named Sen Rikyu. By creating an occasion out of tea it drew attention the the beauty and subtly of action transcending simply making a cup of tea. Matcha is a delicious and healthy brew hot with a intense vegetal flavor or in a sweet and creamy latte!!!
