Maternity-leave cover Programme Officer for the Marine Programme IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation, Malaga, Spain Specific tasks and responsibilities As a general support to the Marine Programme, the Programme Officer will: • Support the Marine Coordinator in developing fundraising proposals and organise other assessment and training sessions as requested. • Develop and support regional initiatives and projects for the conservation of marine biodiversity and the implementation of the work programme related to maritime protected areas. • Ensure that projects and initiatives are implemented in a timely and effective manner and successfully achieve the set objectives and results. • Communicate the results of the Programme to relevant regional partners, Conventions, IUCN members and stakeholders, through the website or the preparation of specific information documents. • Report on project activities on a regular basis, or as required by IUCN or donors. • Undertake other tasks/emerging issues at the request of the Head of the Marine Programme and Director to ensure the effective implementation of the programme. More specifically, within the frame of the existing activities, the following task are considered: • Contribute to the development of Project Pegaso (People for Ecosystem Based Governance in Assessing Sustainable Development of Ocean and Coast) to build on existing capacities and develop common novel approaches to support integrated policies for the coastal, marine and maritime realms of the Mediterranean Sea and the implementation of the ICZM Protocol for the Mediterranean. Particularly, the production of a brochure of participation methods in the case studies of the project and the e-newsletters. • Contribute to the development and implementation of the project Life Posidonia Andalucia to organise a regional workshop on marine seagrasses, the development of technical reports on protected areas and activities and the finalisation of a virtual library. • Support the preparation of an Atlas of seagrasses in Spain in collaboration with other partners and institutions. • Support, on request, the species programme to prepare the necessary documentation required for the Mediterranean Red List Assessment of marine species. Reporting The Programme officer will report according to the needs to the Head of the Marine Programme or the Director.
