Mathias thought as he measured the king. Then it came to him, why - TopicsExpress

Mathias thought as he measured the king. Then it came to him, why didn’t he see what he could do with the young Ludwig. The king didn’t like the idea of putting Mathias in the middle of a problem that was more along the lines of Martha’s ability. In fact the king revealed that she had helped the king with some other of his people problems and he had faith in her. He wasn’t sure that a tailor was able to do anything and told Mathias that he would wait for Martha. The tailor/wizard let it go. There would be other times and people to help. It wasn’t until the middle of the fall of the year when Martha returned. Marriage was still on Mathias’ mind but courage had long since left him. Sitting in one of the local taverns Mathias thought he would try liquid courage but it wasn’t working. Martha came in looking for him. When she found him she sat down and asked him what was wrong. He stammered and stuttered over the words. Just at the right moment Martha found the words for him and asked him to be her husband. There wasn’t a bigger smile in the world then the one on the wizard’s face. They then agreed that it would be in the spring when they would become married. But Martha had a secert. She had prayed to the Twin Sisters to ask them to officiate the ceremony. Although she didn’t really get an answer she somehow knew it would take place. Winter started early that year. The snow became deeper and storms more frequent. Martha chose then to spring a surprise on him. She asked him to teach her how to be a tailor like him. Mathias had never had an apprentice before. He didn’t know how he should begin. Martha knew he was befuddled. She started asking questions about how he did this or that. Mathias fell quickly into answering every question she had. The training began. Before they knew it winter was over spring was banging on the door. Wedding plans had to be made and Martha was the one befuddled. Mathias took over and started planning the whole thing. That’s when the king’s problem reached a boiling point. He sent word to Martha to come and help with Ludwig. She spent a week doing everything she could think of to rid Ludwig of the unseen people who were pestering him. At the end of the week she went to Mathias almost in tears. It was the first time she had failed at something. Comforting her he said he would talk to Ludwig and see what he could do. Martha and Mathias went to the palace. They met with King Henry who introduce him to his son. Ludwig at the moment was deep in a conversation with one of his invisible friends. He called his friend “the one who watches.” The king left them to his son. As the conversation continued Mathias learned that Ludwig’s invisible friend was trying to get him to do something. Mathias had to find out if the prince’s friend was good or evil. As he watched and listened he learned that Ludwig wasn’t being visited by evil entities. He was being visited by the future. Those who were visiting him were Watcher, lord of Kentdowning, his son and daughter, Berry and Beth. There was one who visited him that wasn’t either past or future. It was Father Time, the god of time and balance. The god that everyone who had to deal with time feared. It was a puzzle. The god who didn’t involve himself in common affairs was visiting the prince of Sul. This was a mystery and Mathias loved to solve them.
