The history of Africa can never be complete, especially in the educational enlightenment, and satisfactory knowledge, without a mention university of Ibadan. It a champion for knowledge and an academic giant in research and development. Hence, as a citadel of knowledge, it towers highest in the pursuit of true knowledge through scientific objectives and methodological research development towards the establishment of the best structures in academic development. Established in the year 1948 as University college, Ibadan as a subsidiary of the University of Ibadan with few staff, structures and lacking in considerable reputation. It has gradually rose to a giant in Africa, boasting of quality education, world class infrastructural facilities, adequate manpower, quality research development programme and first class products. The presence of world class libraries which houses millions of quality books on all aspects of human endeavors has boosted the ranks of educational advancement and made Africa a proud father with academic products making waves all over the world in all fields of life. Currently, the University of Ibadan ranks as the best University around with many research programmes ranging from Medicine and Surgery, Agriculture, Sciences, Veterinary medicine and others. This is aimed at solving most intellectual gaps that exist in the academic sphere and human endeavors towards bridging the gap between Theoretical analysis and practical activities. Hence, one cannot but recognize the impact and effects the University of Ibadan has had in Africa and its environs, especially in the production of best brains and reduction of ignorance through enlightenment and academic pursuit which helped in liberating Africa from the clutches of colonization and ignorance.
