Matt 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine - TopicsExpress

Matt 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. The word for light here is phos and it means to shine or make stedfast. Word for eye is ophthalmos and it can mean eye or the faculty of knowing (eye of the mind). Ophis means sharpness of vision and it is used exclusively for satan. When satan comes to saul the first time, he comes as a bright light and blinds him and he is renamed paul. This is a very strange script. All Jesus teaching in encrypted and you can never take it at face value. The parables are prime examples. This is not a parable but is very difficult to decipher. Here is my feeble take. I have put off this article because I wanted to get it right the first time but God is not going to tell me until I have walked in it for awhile. Light could be our understanding and the eye is our mind. The body could be a reference to the rest of our being. What is your personal Gospel? What do you want done in this world? What do you think needs to get fixed? What do you have to offer others that is encouraging? This is your light. How you actually implement it, is your eye or your vision. Let us look a little bit deeper at this message. If your eye is single, your whole body will be full of light. This appears to be the main message but what does it mean? The word single is the Greek word haplous and it means to weave things together into only one part. Is your mind in agreement with itself? The mammal mind is where logic and memory reside and the reptile mind is where emotions and actions proceed. If you can do what you say then your whole body will be full of light. A hypocrite and a person who believes in grace have a double mind. They are very conflicted about what they say and what they do. If you believe in grace then you cannot believe your actions have any real value or meaning. If you believe you can make a difference then you believe in works. What you believe is meaningless until you put it into shoe leather. To do that you need to grasp the principles of Jesus teaching to the point that you can act upon them. Can people count on you or do you try to say what people want to hear? There are 4 groups of people in this world. 1. total strangers. 2. enemies. 3. good time friends. 4. bad time friends. The good time friends are your buddies and they leave at the first sign of trouble. The bad time friends are those who you know you can trust no matter what. Jesus gives more teaching upon the last group than any other. It is the heart and soul of the golden rule. Turn the other cheek, go the 2nd mile, give the 2nd article of clothing do all giving in secret, pray in secret, take the lowest seat, and etc. Anyway, hope you grasp this and have good evening!!!
