Matt Damon Confirms Bourne Return Matt Damon Confirms Bourne ReturnSubscribe Now! ► bit.ly/SubClevverMoviesIt’s been a couple months since it was announced that Matt Damon would be back as Bourne on the big screen and now the star finally opens up about his return. We told you back in September that Damon was in negotiations to return to the popular franchise that ended with 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum and while promoting the return of his reality series Project Greenlight with Ben Affleck, confirmed that he will in fact play Bourne for a fourth time saying quote, “Yes, next year. Itll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and thats all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes. Production on the fifth Bourne film is set to begin next Fall for a currently planned July 15th, 2016 release. Universal has been trying to get Damon back for years, but he had previously said he didn’t really see where else they could take the story and he wouldn’t reprise the role without director Paul Greengrass behind the camera. For a while that looked like it wouldn’t happen as the studio and Greengrass had issues on the set of the 2nd and 3rd film as well as with longtime Bourne screenwriter Tony Gilroy, who directed 2012’s The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner. As for Renner’s “Aaron Cross”, his publicist confirmed that he will not appear in the 2016 film alongside Damon, but will reprise his role as another super-spy turned fugitive in a future installment.
