Matthew 11:29-30 says, “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” You may think that ‘No matter how light this thing is that Jesus wants me to put on, it’s probably too much, because I don’t have the time or energy for one more thing.’ Well, you’re right. Matthew 11:29-30 isn’t saying take on one more thing in your already busy life. It’s saying to lay down all that heavy stuff you’re carrying, and just take on what Jesus asks you carry. It’s not one more thing. It’s a whole new thing. That’s how you get rest for your soul.
