Matthew 16:19 This is Jesus speaking here, There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: Matthew 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate full of sores. Matthew 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich mans table: Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. Matthew 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abrahams bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; Matthew 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eys, being in torments, and see Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Matthew 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water; and cool my tongue for I am tormented in this flame. Tormented, Who is telling this true story? Jesus is, there is a real Hell if it wasnt so he would have told you so, those who reject eternal life by grace through faith alone as a free gift In Ephesians 2:8,9 will end up in this place for eternity. EPHESIANS 2:4 8,9, Says, For by grace mercy are you saved through faith, and that not of your selves, it is the gift of God Not of Works, lest any man should boast Not of works means you do nothing to merit eternal life, for it is a gift from God to you because of the work that he has done for you. Grace means unmerited favor, Grace means undeserved mercy, Grace means God is giving you something you do not deserve for free. No person was ever saved or ever will be saved because they deserve to be saved. Jesus Christ died and bled on the cross at Calvary to pay for your sin debt and all you have to do and all you can do, is to simply believe which is to trust that he did that for you.
