Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; Galatians 5:24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Ephesians 4:22 That, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, Colossians 3:5 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. Our hearts and our minds tell us all sorts of things that seem good and right, but may be in opposition to God. Our flesh will keep telling us over and over to choose one way, but the Word of God tells us to do something else. The desires of the flesh can be overwhelming and cloud our vision concerning spiritual truths. Its a full-blown war against our own selves. Its a day-by-day battle...sometimes even minute-by-minute. But the Holy Spirit whispers to us and reminds us of Gods Word. When the flesh throws out its many arguments and justifications and excuses and temptations, the Spirit is saying, But the Word of God says.... At least thats been my experience. My heart and mind are screaming one thing, but theres a little voice coming through that says, But God says....
