Matthew 23 vs 2 - 5= saying , The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men`s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. = What Jesus was teaching here is the same thing that many of the religious spirits that walk the earth do. They don`t mind telling you all your short comings and pointing out all your faults. They know yours very well, and God forbid if you had a need and were burdened down, they would be the first to give you the scripture, but would not lift a hand to help you unless they could be recognized by others. Jesus was teaching that these people knew the word and tried to live by rules, but love was no where connected to the actions. We should be the most giving people on this earth, it is not enough to see someone has a need, you should respond, and not to be seen of man, but to glorify God. Many churches will hold fundraisers and do all sorts of things to raise money and this is great, but in many of the cases what is creating the works is the people that want to be recognized for what they have done. They are wanting a title or a diploma to show their credentials. Jesus was saying when you do things is in this manner you have already received your reward. Whatever we do it should be done to the glory of God and not for self gain. Religious people enjoy seeing a person suffer, and are often the first ones to find fault in the one suffering so as to point fingers because love is not in operation in their doings. Let any man of God fall short or backslide, it will be the church that kills the man with their mouth and restrictions when we are instructed those that are spiritual, restore those back in the spirit of meekness. This means we are all capable of falling and with the same vigor we had to correct we should have to restore. Encouragement will always pay bigger dividends than name calling and criticizing. We are always suppose to exhort each other, Jesus said by the love we have one for another this is how you would know his people. When someone is in need of financial help because of sickness or disease, we should have compassion and come running with a response, not to be seen, but do it as unto the Lord. I still marvel at the young lady that is on here as I speak that needs financial help for medical. Then I look at all the Christian material that is being posted yet she has not even reached her halfway goal in 2 months. Something is broken here, if we are who we say we are this would have been over paid long ago. In the old testament when Abraham asked for a special offering the people`s response was so great he had to restrain them from giving. What has happened to the body of Christ? Everything we do should operate out of LOVE. Amen
