Matthew 24:1-3 (KJV) And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? His disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple. It was as though they were showing Him where His and their new offices would be as He took ruler-ship as King. But he answered them, “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.” As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” (Matthew 24:1-3 ESV) The questions they asked Jesus were questions that came from diseased paradigms; they thought He had come to set up an earthly Kingdom with them by His side. In His first coming Jesus came to present a Kingdom that does not operate within the paradigms of this world; His way of thinking comes from His Father’s way of thinking. Therefore, His answers were saying something that superseded the answers they were looking for. This is what we must consider as we ponder the reaction Jesus had to their questions. Where are our paradigms today concerning the end of the age?
