Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have - TopicsExpress

Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Today’s Thoughts: I have been sharing the statement “DIFFERENCE MAKER” lately and would like to get a little down to earth (personal) with some “difference maker” to me. Salt was used then, as now, as a flavor enhancer. In the same way that salt enhances the flavor of the food it seasons, we the followers of Christ should stand out as those who “enhance” the flavor of life in this world. Christians, living under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and in obedience to Christ, will inevitably influence the world for good, as salt has a positive influence on the flavor of the food it seasons. Where there is strife, we are to be peacemakers; where there is sorrow, we are to be the ministers of Christ, binding up wounds, and where there is hatred, we are to exemplify the love of God in Christ, returning good for evil. We are to be difference makers!!! Some years ago several of us “deer hunters” from DeKalb went for an overnight hunting trip in Shuqualak. Man were we excited! Of course one of my favorites memories of deer hunting was the great food we always had. This trip was to be no different, deer steaks, rice and gravy, homemade biscuits - are you getting hungry yet? How many of you ever been to Shuqualak MS after dark? Well, you guessed it, we took no salt with us and there was no salt in the cabin. As you know, not a store anywhere close was open. We would had to drive to Macon and we thought since we hunted to almost dark and was about to starve to death, no big deal… “WRONG”. Well, I learned that night and the next morning with scrambled eggs and grits the difference salt makes. Salt is a “difference maker” to food and we are to be “difference makers” to the ones we work with, live with, play with, even where we shop. See, if you are like me and enjoy what salt does to food and the difference it makes, we should be challenged to be a “difference maker”. Only by remaining focused on Christ and being obedient to Him can we expect to remain salt and in the world. Have a blessed day out-there today. Difference maker
