Matthew Chapter 4 The Gospel of Jesus the Christ!! I recommend you copy this so you can take your time reading this.For it is kind of long..... Some Highlights of this Chapter: 1 Christ is tempted. 4 He conquered the devil with Scripture. 11 The Angels minister unto him. 12 He preaches repentance, and that himself is come. 18 The calling of Peter, Andrew. 21 James and John. 24 He preaches the Gospel, and heals the sick. .............................................................................................................. 1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. (Christ was tempted all manner of ways and still overcometh, that we also through his virtue may overcome.::: Definition of VIRTUE 1 a : conformity to a standard of right : morality b : a particular moral excellence 2 plural : an order of angels — see celestial hierarchy 3: a beneficial quality or power of a thing : through the force of : by authority of ...................................................................... 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. (A Full forty days., Now do not attempt this with out a Dr.s approval.. Check with others who may have done this!! Now we can fast for shorter times.. I have, many have..I need to do it again, both time I have done it for one day morning till dark..) 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. (the tempter:, Or, Satan and many other names..) 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. ( Jesus didnt say some words of God or these words of God, No Jesus said EVERY WORD, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. That means every word in the Bible, old and new testament, He even talks with us today, so yes, even those words out of the mouth of God.. If we ask, and God gives us an answer, no matter how He answers us, it is words out of His mouth.) (God the Father has answered me many times and in many ways, and He will with you too!! When waiting for an answer, we must keep our eyes and ears open..and be looking for His answer.. Test and make sure it is of God though...If it lines up with Gods words and will it is from Him!!) 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, (The battlement wherewith the flat roof of the temple was compassed about, that no man might fall down: as was appointed by the Law, Deut. 22:8.) 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. ( So do we tempt God by taking chances on purpose? Now I have taken chances in some things but it is not in trying to tempt God.. For when we take a step in faith, that is not tempting God.. for we are to stand and take a leap of faith which does not mean, we literaly take a leap off a cliff!!That would be tempting God.. No whenwe take a leap of faith we are trusting that God/Jesus is right there with us and we are reaching out Spiritually and we m ust get out of our comfort zone.. I could go on, but I wont, I know you understand this..) 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. ( Now I cant say I have not been tempted by the evil because I have , Yes even after being born again!! I backslid a time or two.. Jesus never walked away from me, but I did from Him.. well I went to the side a little.. Then we remember, hopefully so, that, there is no where and no one else we would want to go to.. Praise the Lord Jesus!! Cause He just stands there quietly waiting for us to come back.. and we can anytime we choose..) Proverbs 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. ................................................................................................................. 11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. ( Can we even imagine that,? I wonder how many, what all did they do? How long were the Angels with Him at that time of minitering unto Jesus...Imagine, how hot, tired, dirty, sweaty,thristy, hungry Jesus was, being God He was still in the flesh like you or I...to suffer all temptations and all of everything that is not of God, for our benefit... for our Souls!! and this was just the beginning of His preaching the Gospel..) 12 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; (When the Herald’s mouth is stopped, the Lord revealeth himself, and bringeth full light into the darkness of this world, preaching free forgiveness of sins to them that repent. A Herald was this:Heralds were originally messengers sent by monarchs or noblemen to convey messages or proclamations) 13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: (Which was a town a great deal more famous than Nazareth was.) 14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; (So called, because it bordered upon Tyre and Sidon, and because Solomon gave the king of Tyre twenty cities in that quarter, 1 Kings 9:11.) 16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.(Jesus is the light they seen!!) For Jesus is the light!!) 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.,( Or, Is come to you. Jesus was there in the flesh, yet He was from Heaven, He is Heaven, so yes Heaven was very near by to these people!! Jesus is the lightthey seen!!) 18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. (Christ thinking by time, that he should at length depart from us, even at the beginning of his preaching, better get him disciples after an heavenly sort, men indeed poor, and utterly unlearned, and therefore such as might be least suspected witnesses of the truth of those things which they heard and saw..... So, it seems today that most want a Pastor to be a college graduate!! Isnt this the opposite of what Jesus thought?? Some of us are taught mostly by the Holy Ghost/God.. for who taught the Apostles? Jesus did, and who is the Holy Ghost? the Spirit of Truth!!.. You see, the way I see it is, If a man learn a lie, and does not know it is a lie, then that man will teach the same lie or lies. then to the next and the next and by now, they are so sure that this lie is truth, they will not even look into the scriptures to find out!! For now they believe what they have been taught... You see, being the Holy Spirit cannot lie, I would rather be taught the absolute truth from Him and not mans versions!! Now I have learned some from men, but I always try and filter all they say thru Gods words.. What they say must, I say MUST line up with the word of God, Every word of God!! Just like Jesus told the tempter!! We must all do this at all times, make sure what men say is what God says... ALWAYS!! For there are many here to decieve and to lead many to hell if they can..Check all of us, filter everything said with the words of God, no matter who it seems is saying it!! ) 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. 21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him. ( Wow the authority of Jesus... Did these men know who He was, by the Spirit? Or were they bored with their lives and was looking for another thing to do or place to go, you know, like many of us were when we were younger or you young ones today!! You know what I am talking about for we have all wondered, what if??? Some of us take the chance, gamble, and others stay safe in what they are doing... I have taken a lot of chances, so very scary, sometimes close to death...before I ever thought of becomeing born again...Even then, I didnt know it, but God was with me and saved my life many times... and now I know what for, for I often wondered that, what for?? Most every one I grew up with eneded up in prison or dead, my two best friends, passed on, one back in 98.. the other a few years ago.. I miss them, and I hadnt seen them for years even before that.. One of them and I talked and I made sure He had accepted Jesus, cause I asked Him..I do not know about the other.. I will find out when it is my time to go home!! This is part of the reason I am not scared to easily today!! It is not arrogance or pride, or anything like that.. I have been through these things and I am still here all praise to God.. But now I Know that Jesus always has my back, my Heart, My Life in His hands!!! So, who or what is there to fear now?? He who is in me is way stronger than he who is in this world!!!) 23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. (Christ assures the hearts of the believers of his spiritual and saving virtue, by healing the diseases of the body.) John Chapter 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ....................................................................................... 24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. ( torments, The word shows properly, the stone wherewith gold is tried: and by a borrowed kind of speech is applied to all kinds of examination by torture, when as by rough dealing and torments, we go about to draw out the truth of men, which otherwise they would not.. but this is not a torture about getting truth, but just making men suffer and that is all Satan and his demons are all about!!! The Power of Jesus/God was able to defeat all things evil!! we with the word of God in us have this power also!! It is not Our power,but the power of the name of Jesus!! This is not a magic word, no... it is power... that God has given us to use as Jesus told us in., John Chapter 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan. Jesus was winning souls left and rihgt here it seems.. I wonder, how many were just curious, or hungry hoping for a handout, or perhaps had nothing else to do, and I wonder out of this type, how many accepted Jesus as the messiah... Sounds like there was an awful lot of people.. can we imagine what the Pharasies were thinking, the higher ups in the church?? what was up with this man?, what blasphemy?.. We are the ones that were taught of men about the words of God...and what His words meant... Surley this man is unlearned, how does He know such things? You see, they were taught about God, and about expecting a messiah, which Christ is mentioned throughout the old testament!! Yet, they did not know God when they saw Him.. and they did not accept Him... They did not have the love of God, they knew the words, but did not know the author!! Do we know the author, His love for us...? Wow, willl we know His voice like His word says? John Chapter 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: Jesus loves us all... He went through so much for us to be able to be reconciled with the Father.. We now, because of ALL Jesus did while He was here in the flesh, the same exact flesh you and I are in..can boldly but reverently approach His throne with thanksgiving and praise and after this we ask Him for what we need of Him... We then thank Him ahead of time, knowing that Our Heavenly Father is already working on what we ask, as long as what we ask for lines up with His will, not ours.. we will know if it lines up or not as soon as we ask Him...!! I love you people, not as much as Jesus, but I do.. I am aman, I am the farthest one I know from perfect!! May God bless each and everyone of you with what you need...
