Matthew Loop So... a patient comes into our office against his orthopedic surgeons advice. His wife literally forced him to come since she was a previous patient and noted such great results. 52 year old male with severe right hip pain. He said his MD took X-rays of the low back and hip then told him nothing was wrong with the low back and that there was moderate arthritis in the hip. The doctor felt that was the primary problem. The orthopedic recommended hip injections and brought up the idea of possibly a hip replacement later on if it became intolerable. We took X-rays in our office just to double check the diagnosis since FAR TOO MANY TIMES pain in the hip/extremities is linked to nerve compression in the spine. His ortho and neuro tests didnt reveal too much. After viewing the films, this guys L3, L4, and L5 discs were smashed like an Oreo cookie. Pencil thin spacing. Nothing WRONG with the X-rays, Mr Ortho?!?! Really?? Im not even sure this doctor looked at the films. After two adjustments and two sessions of manual decompression therapy for his low back, the patient is totally out of pain. Hes still going to need A LOT of corrective care to rehab his spine, but my god. THIS is the type of stuff chiropractors see regularly. How many patients in the US are misdiagnosed yearly, then needlessly get injected or put under the knife?? Far more than you think. How many peoples lives are ruined by the agony and suffering of failed back surgery. When you get cut in the spine, you are NEVER the same. You have better odds of winning big in Las Vegas than you do when it comes to having a successful back operation that doesnt cause further problems later on. When you get an invasive hip replacement, your function is never the same. You wont run as fast as you used to, be as strong as you used to be, and your ligaments / muscles dont secure the prosthetic like they do normal bone. Lesson... ALWAYS get a 2nd and 3rd opinion. One of those opinions should come from a conservative spine specialist like a chiropractor. This should be brain-dead obvious, but youd be surprised by how many people uncritically accept what the white coat says as the word of God. Very scary. Mind control has been proven to work time and time again. The medical system is a classic example.
