Matthew Polstein Friday I leave on a fifteen day canoe trip. mainewoodsdiscovery/150thoreau/ I have been guiding for 33 years and going on extended canoe trips for over forty. At fifty two, I am interested in how I will hold up to the mental and physical challenge and routine of traveling completely under my own power, while sharing in the responsibility for the enjoyment and safety of such a large and diverse group. Hard physical labor, and sleeping on the ground have always left me feeling fully rested. Will that hold true for 14 or fifteen nights and days. And what of my fellow travelers. 8 or 9 will be joining us for the whole trip. How do you think you would do paddling and camping for 15 days?
