Mature, well mannered, attractive and fun female looking for true love and the perfect home... Curly, cheery, and cuter than cute. Thats Nikki. Happy could readily be her name, because this marvelous Miss is never anything but happy. This personable 8-year-old bundle of plush poodle love has been in her foster home since her elderly owner passed away four months ago. After undergoing heartworm treatment and regaining her strength, Nikki is once more her naturally happy, sweet and easygoing self, with a tail that seldom stops wagging. Slightly shy when meeting new people for the first time, she quickly grows comfortable in their presence and makes everyone - including cats and other dogs - her new best friends, although young children are unknown at this point. She likes being near her fosters as much as possible, but she isnt much of a cuddler, and wont stay on anyones lap for too long. Unless theres a thunderstorm. And then she cant get enough of either closeness or cuddles! She loves playing with her stuffed toys, which she totes around with her everywhere, going for rides in the car, and being taken on walks. (She walks very well on a leash). Enthusiastic and eager, she knows her basic commands, and will bark excitedly whenever someone comes to or leaves the house. She also has a tendency to bounce against the backs of her foster moms legs as she walks through the house, which could present a problem for someone unsteady on their feet. And, despite her vigor, Nikki does have some health concerns. A noisy (upper airway) breather, she takes theophylline (a generic drug that can be purchased at Walmart) to control it. She has a touch of arthritis; her kneecaps are displaced, and although shes not in pain and climbs steps with ease, she has a slight sashay to her walk and sits with her legs slightly splayed. Now, as she sashays happily out the door to her forever home, Nikki knows that the ideal adopter for her will be one who keeps her healthy and strong and in the best possible shape.
