Maubog Diesel Power Plant Friday night 7 November 2014 They have accelerated their work and about 7:30 pm the whole area smelled of smoke and burnt. Upon checking we noticed it came from the Powerplant area where a lot of welding was going on and the cementmixers clearly at work based on the sounds. The smoke and fumes in the area was from the welding. A forewarning of whats to come. The power plant is supposed to help out during the socalled peak hours which is about this time. Welding , the floodlights etc consume a lot of Electric energy but obviously no shortage of such even if there are no Power Plant. So why is one needed? Even DOE secretary Petilla stated in the Power Summit we attended 30 Oct. that by middle of next year (about when the Power Plant is supposed to be operational) Mindanao will have enough power in their networks. The Mindanao networks Camiguin is connected to. Camiguin has one submarine cable of 10.2 KV with abt 70% utilization in good condition connected to this network plus another ??? bigger one at 13.4 KV that has placed a debt burden of 220M peso onto the CAMELCO members shoulders and monthly bills. Why the Power Plant?? In one of the pictures you can see the contours of the National Monument /Park mt. Timpoong under the star studded sky in the background. In the center of the picture in the floodlight, smoky and fuming overtime work going on at the premature construction taking place at the Power Plant. A neighbouring house in the foreground.
