Maureen could not wait for Jayla to grow big enough to ride in the car shopping carts. This was her proud moment when she finally convinced me to let Jayla ride in a cart this way. (Although, I do think she really wanted to ride in it herself and Jayla was a good way to get herself into the car too -- to protect her sister, of course.) For a few years, when Jayla would ride in the car cart, Maureen would want to ride alongside her even when she had to strategically manipulate her body to get in and out. As Jayla grew, she hated being so cramped, and Maureen could usually only be in it for the first half of the shopping trip before Jayla kicked her out. Honestly, I hate those carts. They are often broken and filthy and definitely difficult to maneuver. I am glad that I was able to give in most of the time to let them have a little bit of fun when running a regular errand. Maureen taught her sister to enjoy them, as I continue to have Jayla begging to ride in one whenever we go to the grocery store.
