Mauritius, its surrounding islands and its native animals and - TopicsExpress

Mauritius, its surrounding islands and its native animals and plants are all very special to the team here at Durrell. Its been the site of some of our biggest conservation successes, not least the restoration of species such as the Mauritius kestrel (then the worlds rarest bird), pink pigeon, Round Island boa, Rodrigues fruit bat, Telfairs skink... to name but a few. The first ever trainee to pass through what would become Durrell Conservation Academy, Youssef Mungroo, was from Mauritius. These days Durrell Conservation Academy Indian Ocean even operates courses in Mauritius. Our own Dr. Nik Cole runs the Mauritius Reptiles project and page, and has put the brainwork, study, fieldwork, blood and sweat into saving them. We cant forget that Gerald Durrell himself was inspired to pen Golden Bats and Pink Pigeons, which details the animals and the beginnings of all of the above, when he himself began the work to save the various Islands species from extinction. This trailer shows a few of these species, and is a chance for you to own part of a film about the real Mauritius in all its natural glory. #DurrellTeam The Mauritian Wildlife Foundation
