Maximizing Hip Engagement in Bilateral Above Knee - TopicsExpress

Maximizing Hip Engagement in Bilateral Above Knee Amputee Awesome time working with Matt Lampert to figure out how to best modify certain exercises in the online strength & conditioning program for a bilateral above the knee amputee. Appropriate modifications are imperative during our first six week training cycle, which maintains a relentless focus on body awareness and proper mechanics. One of our goals for the online program is to enable bilateral above the knee amputees to get an equally effective stimulus from the workouts in each six week training cycle. Since each cycle builds upon the one before it, establishing a solid base of technique work, loading, and conditioning in phase 1 allows our members to progress more efficiently, with greater precision, and less chance for injury and burnout. For Matt, getting on a rower is cumbersome, as is changing out his running legs. So we find a suitable alternative to 400M runs and 500M rows with a modified sled push. Here, we fine-tune his technique and experiment with loading in order to maximize hip engagement. Just as important, the cardiovascular response is similar to short-distance running and rowing intervals.
