Maxine Pupdate: Remember sweet Maxine that tangled with a bear and just had surgery to repair her dislocated hip? Well, she got her stitches out yesterday and was taken on a field trip to the bakery this afternoon to celebrate her progress. Maxine still has 6 more weeks of light duty and is a bit frustrated that she cant play with the other dogs. The parking at the bakery is perfect since she literally only had to walk about 5 feet to a table.Our outing gave us an opportunity to evaluate her behavior in a strange situation. Bless her heart, she didnt beg once until she smelled a little chicken. Even challenged by her recent surgery, she attempted to half sit just to let us know that she is a true lady and has manners.She enjoyed her ride and scored the following on her report card: Pearly-Toothed Smile: A+ Riding in the car: A+ No Begging: A+ Children: A+ Loud Noises: A+ Leash Training: C+ (she gets a hall pass until she is totally healed) Strange People: A+ Strange Dogs: A+ Control Around Things That Buzz & Fly: B (She will snap at a bee in a split second). Staying Still: B (Very inquisitive) No Barking: A+ Communication Skills: A+ (She will look at you and whine when she has to go potty or just needs a rest). All in all, Maxine had a wonderful day and I was proud to have her represent the Good Newz Rehab Center!
