May 12, 2014 For Immediate Release News Contact: Neil D. Cable, P.E., County Engineer Pleasant Hill Road from Hedville Road to Winchester Road was closed this morning to permit a crew from Saline County Road and Bridge Department to make necessary repairs to the pavement subgrade. In order to accomplish this work, several pieces of heavy construction equipment will be operating within the Pleasant Hill Road travelway which is very narrow. After completion of this preparatory work, APAC will place an asphalt overlay on Pleasant Hill Road from Hedville Road to Winchester Road. It is anticipated that all construction activity will be completed on or before May 21st and Pleasant Hill Road reopened to traffic. Of course, completion of the project by this date is dependent on the weather. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and allow a few extra minutes of travel time to reach their destinations. Local and emergency traffic will be provided access to private properties within the closed section of Pleasant Hill Road at all times but only from the side of the moving work zone that their properties lies upon. APAC-Kansas, Inc. Shears Division was awarded a contract for $1,146,560.00 Project 14-5305: Countywide Hot-Mix Patching, Leveling, Surface Course, and Profile Milling by the Saline Board of County Commissioners on March 25, 2014. The work on Pleasant Road is the fourth section of road work under that contract.
