May 13, 1987, I took a one way trip from Chicago (Mt. Prospect) to Honolulu. My intent, at 24 years old, was to start my lifes journey and see what was out there and what life was all about. Well, there isnt enough room here to post, but a big influence on me was my first boss in my employment with the government and Marine Corps - the late Dave Burnett (Master Gunnery Sergeant, USMC - retired). Just an awesome guy who taught me about working with Marines and aspects of life in general and just had such an infectious positive disposition that I try to emulate to this day. But most notably was a retired Navy Aviator, the late Commander, B. E. Corky Hartnett and his wife Peggy. They took me in, let me live in their Waikiki condo, and showed me what being a good human being was all about. Corky also, a few years later, introduced me to his daughter, Jamie. Unfortunately, Corky didnt live long enough to see Jamie and me now married for almost 19 years, but I can only hope he is happy with how that turned out, because happy is a big understatement from my perspective. Life! Grab it! You only get one! Peace, Mags
