May 2, 2014 – SLCA (2009) presents ‘Kaiso on de Road’ on May 4, 2014 The Saint Lucia Calypso Association (2009) will be hosting a ‘Kaiso on de Road’ motorcade— the first ever organized Calypso vehicular motorcade launch on Sunday May 4, 2014. This event will kick-off from the Vigie Playing Field at 8am. The effort is geared at promoting with greater desired impact and visibility the new look of the Saint Lucia Calypso Association (2009) with a wider national outreach to the population in the various communities in Saint Lucia. All seven Calypso Tents will participate in this event. The launch is integrated into the Jazz Festival when all attention will be on Saint Lucia for the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival. SLCA (2009) promotes this event as a very inexpensive platform to generate business linkages and to foster greater ties and build confidence in the Association. Kaiso on de Road will have organized stops in all districts in Saint Lucia in this way the event will generate greater interest in the sustainability of the art form. The event will proceed along the West Coast, and return to Castries with the full participation of all Tents. There will be short performances at each main district stop. Kaiso on de Road will feature a roving music truck and will be playing local Calypso and Soca the entire day while traversing the route. The outreach will be an all-day radio link up with a local radio station. The Kaiso on de Road’ tour, invites all well wishers and interests in the art form of Calypso to this low economic budget but high impact launch of the Calypso year 2014.
