May 29 2015 will be an important day in the history of the state - TopicsExpress

May 29 2015 will be an important day in the history of the state that got its name from the Ogun river. I want to congratulate the good people of Ogun state in advance who are in the quest of ushering in this epoch-making change at this critical stage of our history. I am reading through your minds that you will all ask the following questions and answer them on the February 28 2015 elections: Cowardice asks the question - is it safe? Expediency asks the question - is it politics? Vanity asks the question - is it popular? But conscience asks the question - is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe nor politics nor popular but one must take it because it is right and because it alludes to and aggregates ones conscience. I understand the fact that in the game of politics the crisis of confidence is always sacrosanct. I understand the fact that our recent experiences have blighted our faith in the system. I understand the fact that our hope was let down; our confidence in the system is at its lowest ebb and our former choice was borne out of no other choice option. But i have a message for you: you dont have to lose hope in the system. You dont have to say goodbye to good governance. You dont have to surrender when the game has just begun. Yes! You dont have to lose hope at all! The era of casting aspersions on the credibility of the Oke Mosan prospect is over. Our recent experience is such that there was zero tolerance for opposition views and constructive criticism. I am of the view that whether opinion is constructive or destructive; leaders must take all with no qualms. Everybody is free to exercise their freedom of speech. Politicians are made and not born. Any politician who has not the stomach for the railings of the masses but prides in their ocassional political hossanas is not fit to lead a public life. It wont be business as usual. To those farmers at the Remo axis; he will support you. To those fishermen at the Ijebu Waterside end of the state; he will help you. To those adire merchants at the Egba phase;he wont forget you. To those civil servants at Yewa/Awori axis; he will work together. To the unions; he will do it together with you. To the traders and artisans; he will work in unison with you. To the entire civil servants and labourers; your labour wont be in vain. To all senior citizens; he wil remember you. He wont neglect agriculture which is our mainstay. He will spread our economic hands to foreign investors to harness our potentials and create employment. He will build roads linking the rural settlements to the towns and cities. He knows this will ease the transportation of farm produce to needed areas. Where he needs to build bridges; he will. Where not; he wont. He wont misplace our priorities. He will put us first in all he does. He will not let us down. Whilst we pray for greatness for our state; we call upon all our great sons and daughters to also extend a hand of fellowship to this course. He will do his best. And God will help us do that. The leaves are going about the land. The air is filled with the aura of expectations. Some are saying: will it be a different ball game? Others are asking; will it be the continuation of our previous experience? Whilst it is good to be careful in giving promises; he has assured us of stewardship accountability. Ogun shall be great again. WE HAVE SPOKEN: DIMEJI BANKOLE 2015. THE TIME IS NOW!!!
