May 29th, 43 years ago Linda Sue and I became man and wife... as they announced us we danced our 1st dance across the floor to Love Me Tender by Elvis Presley... I remember the moment like it was yesterday... as we started our journey in our 1st starter home raising 2 sons we realized we needed a little more room.... so we purchased a summer home in the woods in Ridge on Long Island and had to tear it down and build from scratch, we salvaged one large room to live in. It was livable in about 2 months time... the fun we had..... using an out house, pumping water by hand, taking showers behind the house, Linda Sue washing our clothes on a scrub board... cooking on a 50 year old 1/2 coal 1/2 gas stove ... etc ... finally in about 8 weeks we managed to get the electric in which meant a pump for the well, lights, water and a week later a real bath room and shower.... Praise the Lord .. and for Linda Sue a washer and dryer as the house came together we had rooms to stay in.... and somewhere in the pre electric stage our 3rd son was making his way into the picture ... it was a large undertaking with help from my father, brother in law and his father but we were dried in and totally livable in 3 to 4 months as winter was coming in ... it was a lot of work and took about 3 years to finally finish to our specs... but we did every thing by our selves.... by law I had to have the power hooked up, but I did most the electric and plumbing myself... and the cesspools put in by contractor... other wise we did it all our selves.... what a wonderful feeling it was to have our home finished 3 years later and and our Thanksgiving and Christmas as a family..... a lot of memories here..... some comical moments like a hunter and two dogs running through the open air kitchen, in the front and out the back wall (no door yet ... anyway we are now in the twilight of our years .... after 43 years I think tomorrow we will take the day off..... and live in the world of our own we created ... and I must thank the Lord for all his help because with out him we would not have been able to do this... https://youtube/watch?v=PSxwqBJLU8A
