May 4, John 3:22-4:3, He must increase, but I must decrease. Never have truer words been spoken, yet they are so radical for our culture. Our culture is all about me increasing in power, wealth, stuff, you name it and Jesus always seems to get left by the side of the road of life. Yet John, knowing who Jesus was, rightly states that He must increase with the result that we must by definition, decrease. That isnt easy living in the times we live or when we look in the mirror and our egos are telling us to get more for me. So ask yourself, are you on the front side of Johns statement (He must increase) or on the backside (I must increase) or is your life aligned with Johns declaration?
