May nakilala akong kapitbahay ko, a nice lady years. She is a US citizen (pero Pinay) who decided to spend her twilight years in the Philippines. Lives with 1 maid and 1 driver (both female relatives) in a 2-bedroom unit. She was widowed 2 years ago and said that her decision to retire here was because of her husbands passing (a retired US Navy guy). She got a pension from the US govt and didnt feel it was enough to live comfortably. So she sold all her belongings, arranged for her social security and the all govt checks from her husband and decided to live in the Philippines. She said she is happier here, making new friends (she doesnt want to come home to her hometown of CDO) and enjoying a far more comfortable life than she ever imagined. She just spends her days lazing around the pool, exercising in the gym and going around Luzon with her rich amigas. She lives like a queen and doesnt look her age.
