‘May sistema silang maayos’: Ahead of Manila Clasico, Marc Pingris impressed by Ginebra under Jeffrey Cariaso Against a lowly opponent in the GlobalPort Batang Pier on Friday, the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers got off to a lackluster start before waking up in the second half. With a highly-anticipated Manila Clasico showdown with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel looming on Sunday, coach Tim Cone hopes his Mixers have gotten the wakeup call. Nagising kami. Naisip namin hindi kami pwedeng mag-relax,” Pingris told InterAksyon in an exclusive interview. Sunday’s match marks the first time the Mixers will face Ginebra since former San Mig Coffee assistant coach Jeffrey Cariaso took over the reins of the Gin Kings, who have won three straight games to open the PLDT Home Telpad Governors’ Cup. Pingris has been watching Ginebra’s progress closely, and he’s been impressed. “Sorry to say this, pero ang Ginebra ngayon nakikita ko mas may disiplina,” Pingris said. Parang naka-smile silang lahat at alam yung gagawin nila.” Coming into the matchup, Pingris has nothing but respect for the new team of his old coach.
