Maya is very unwell and all of her consultants are battling up hill to try and make her better but there is a lot going against them. Maya is no longer moving protein around her body so she is swelling up. She has bruises on her that are not from injury that also means that her tissues are not working and her potassium levels keep dropping despite interventions. She is facing multiple systems failures at moment and she is very sick. This afternoon we are having a ct scan to see if her brain shunt is also failing. It is possible she will soon need TPN meaning all of her nutrition will come from a drip because her bowel and tummy are no longer working. Noone can tell us if this is because she is deteriorating or just a bump in her road.
