Mayawati says parties in Uttar Pradesh conspired to defeat BSP Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati on Wednesday accused the political parties in Uttar Pradesh of joining hands as part of a conspiracy against her party in the last Lok Sabha elections. All opposition parties joined hands together against BSP under a conspiracy, she said. The BSP drew a blank in UP, despite being the third most-voted party in the May elections. Our party is not only a political party but also a movement of societal change, Mayawati said at a press conference in New Delhi. The poor, Dalits and Muslims are being neglected as was the case in earlier regimes, she said. Nominating Azamgarhs Raja Ram and Moradabads Veer Singh as her partys candidates for the two seats in the forhcoming Rajya Sabha election, the BSP chief said, We are in favour of equal representation of all sections of societies and communities. But due to less number of candidates, we have decided to keep Dalits in the forefront since nomination of candidates from any one section would have offended people from other sections. Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mayawati said, BJP should not pride itself on winning Maharashtra and Haryana elections since the mandate is primarily against Congress in these states. Modi is coming to Varanasi on November 7, but he has hardly been able to do anything promised on Ganga cleaning, she said. Modi represents Varanasi in the Lok Sabha. The BJP has tried every bit to mislead people to gain politically. There graph will go down in the days to come and it will be evident in the coming assembly elections in states, she said, adding that her party will contest the forthcoming Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Demanding Presidents Rule in the Samajwadi Party-ruled Uttar Pradesh, she said, Law and order continues to take a beating under the SP government. The Governor should give factual report to President in this regard. On Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav inaugurating a flyover overlooking her residence and the BSP office, Mayawati said, It is all a reflection of their low politics. We will give a befitting reply in times to come. (Ye sab inki ochi, tucch, ghatiya aur ghinauni rajniti ka prateek hai. Iska jawab waqt aane par diya jayega). The former UP chief minister also claimed credit for the Lucknow Metro project. Most initial work for Metro Rail Project was started during the BSP regime, she said.
