Maybe I would like to create a foundation in the future that will boost the interest on Natural Medicine. That will create a resource of knowledge that is not only based on theories but also in empirical (experience) grounds. China has intertwined the medical technology with the rich Chinese traditional Medicine, where the World even envy and tried to reach. With office branches located in various countries, including Philippines. Guangzhou, houses the Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou China that bolstered the medical tourism as well as developed an only-China-can-invent methods to treat Cancer as accurate as it can be. Japan also developed a medicine that is extracted from Shiitake mushrooms. Developed a scheme where Natural Medicine will be also applied in the healthcare of every Japanese. India had preserved its Ayurvedic Medicine. A counterpart country of China in terms of Natural Medicine. It also managed to provide clinics and hospitals that provide Natural Medicine. I authored a paper way back in Congress and UP to do the same in the Philippines. Being awarded the Best Policy Paper for a naive like me is an epic feeling. But of course I am pretty much sure that there are lots of students who have created better than what we did. Some senior professors were impressed, some were doubtful and skeptical. But even so, at the end, the paper was eyed for recognition. I hope the Government will try to make a response to such policy. Kahit hindi na nila icredit yung paper namin, basta at least a word or two in our paper could awaken their political will to establish a good Natural Medicine scheme in our healthcare. Based on our research, if the Philippines could have preserved the Natural medicine data bank and funded it enough for promotion, 60-70% of the out-of-the-pocket money for health could have been saved and could have been instead spent for education, food, nutrition, etc. Despite the lack of interest on natural medicine in our system, there are signitficant data (which is not that easy to dig out from our info system even DOH) suggest that there is a big potential for diseases to be prevented or cured had the Government increased the support for the proper information dissemination re Natural Medicine.
