Maybe they would listen to the Pentagon, a traditionally conservative institution, who has factored climate change into their risk assessments and strategic planning since the Bush era, and who recently declared climate change an urgent threat to national security that is already drastically altering how they carry out war games exercises and other ops in regions such as the Arctic, sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia? Global temperatures are rising, land ice and permafrost is melting, sea level is rising, ocean chemistry is changing, acidifying, the hydrologic cycle of evaporation and precipitation is intensifying, global wind patterns are shifting. If not now then when will we awake from our dithering and tune out world-famous climate scientists like Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, OReilly and representative Inhofe? When will we begin to put facts ahead of ideology, evidence ahead of partisan pandering? When will we get to work on preparing a safe future for posterity?
