Mayor Bill de Blasio and the NYC Council just made us less safe and further undermined the rule of law. De Blasios municipal IDs for illegal immigrants are a recipe for fraud and criminality. The front of the ID card does not say it can’t be used to board a plane. Terrorists could obtain these official government IDs under a false name to escape the no-fly list. Criminals can take advantage of de Blasio IDs to open bank accounts under aliases. A look at the documents required to obtain an ID reveals very loose security standards. The de Blasio IDs make New York City and the United States less safe. On top of that, de Blasio’s IDs are a slap in the face to legal immigrants and all of those waiting on line to immigrate legally. They did the right thing and played by the rules. The immigration process is long and difficult. It wasn’t easy for them. But, de Blasio is rewarding the people who cheated and skipped the line ahead of legal immigrants. He’s telling the people who are waiting on line to immigrate legally that playing by the rules is foolish. It’s an insult to all of those decent, hard-working people.
