Mayor Julian Julian Castro confirmed as HUD Secretary. State Rep. Mike Villarreal: Congratulations to Secretary Castro on this incredible achievement. I know we are all proud to see a native son receive the honor of public service to the nation. Now San Antonio must make sure we do not lose our momentum during this transition. I encourage the City Council to move quickly in following the city charter to choose one of their own as interim mayor to finish out the term. Then, in May the voters will have the opportunity to elect the next mayor of our great city. I believe San Antonio’s best days are still ahead of us, and I look forward to having a conversation with the voters about my vision for how we can keep our economic engine moving forward while making sure everyone has an opportunity to share in the prosperity.
