Mayor Opens Ninth Centre—Rs.5 Meal Scheme Hyderabad, September 13: Mohammed Majid Hussain, Mayor, GHMC said that this is the 9th centre of Rs. 5/- food scheme, which is being inaugurated at Liberty X Roads, in front of GHMC Head Office. The GHMC has taken up such innovative and unique programme for feeding poor and below poverty line people and this unique scheme of feeding the poor is equal to serving the God. He further said that usually Government will take such initiatives but he is proud to be a Mayor of GHMC which has taken up this initiative scheme. Every Rupee collected as tax is being spent in a proper way and helping the citizens in many ways, he added. The Mayor said that almost all 50 centres have been identified and all the centres will be functioning by October 2, and the GHMC is planning to take up Re.1/- breakfast scheme for which the proposals are being prepared and it will be placed before the Standing Committee for approval.. Raja Singh, Goshamahal MLA, said that he is proud to participate in this programme. G. Rajkumar, Deputy Mayor, GHMC praised the Mayor and Commissioner, GHMC for taking up such a good of scheme feeding the poor. Satya Goura Chandra Dasa, President of Hare Krishna, Akshaya Pathra Foundation, said that he was very much thankful to the the Mayor and Commissioner for giving them opportunity to serve the poor as the foundation is already feeding poor free of cost in most of the States in the Country. The President expressed his feelings that he has never seen the organization like GHMC which has taken up the initiative. Somesh Kumar, Commissioner, said that most of the drivers, cleaners, sweepers and various other people have requested to set up one centre near GHMC Head office for the convenience of the labourers who are working in and around these areas. Keeping in view of their request, today this programme has been organized. Mahender Reddy, Commissioner of Police, N. Ravi Kiran, Additional Commissioner (H&S), Wajid Hussain, Floor Leader (Congress) and Standing Committee Member, Pradyumna, Special Commissioner, GHMC, and others participated in the event.
