Mayor Snow and Council Hjorten are hell-bent on proving me - TopicsExpress

Mayor Snow and Council Hjorten are hell-bent on proving me “unqualified” to serve as the Town’s mayor. Now to be “qualified” you must meet the conditions of the law… be a United States citizen, be of prescribed age, having resided in the community for a prescribed duration, and free from any felony convictions. That qualified all of our past mayors, it even qualified Snow. And it qualifies me! So why is it that Mayor Snow and Councilmember Hjorten are so desperate to insure that I’m not elected? Why is it that they have been combing my personal and work history? Why is it that they have used Town resources to “investigate” an opposing candidate? There certainly must be more to this than meets the eye and that makes my drive to become your mayor even stronger! Although I am proud of my personal history and my resume, they are subordinate to my qualifications to serve you. Had I been your mayor for the past 16 years, my “resume” would be my accomplishments. Snow can boast closing our swimming pool and losing the jobs it provided for our youth, he can point to the terrible condition of our sidewalks and roads, he can brag about increasing our sewer rates by over 266% and our water rates by over 180%, he has increased the administrative employee salaries by 85% (twice the rate of the consumer price index), and added B&O tax increase on our utilities that takes about $180,000 from us each year. He hired, defends, and supports a Town Clerk that has no public relationship skills. He has restricted our ability to be involved in our Town government and has embarrassed us on a state-wide level for his stance on reducing access to our public records. We have a consulting engineer out of control. We’ve lost our theater and our bank. Most of our parks restrooms remain locked. And there are virtually no facilities or programs for our youth or seniors. But then, on a good note, he does hire Elvis the 4th of July every year! So ask yourself… “Who is the most qualified?’ The answer should be that we are “equally” qualified. But then ask yourself; “Who can do the better job?” Mail out ballots will be in your hands in a few weeks… take the time to think about it and regardless of your choice, vote!
