Mayor and Police Chief to Discuss Body Cameras at Monthly Mayor’s Roundtable Meeting Salisbury - Mayor James Ireton, Jr. and Salisbury Police Chief Barbara Duncan are pleased to announce a presentation on body-worn cameras by the Salisbury Police Department. The presentation will take place at the monthly Mayor’s Neighborhood Roundtable, on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, in the Government Office Building, Third Floor at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend. The community presentation will focus on body cameras in the following ways: -History of body cameras -Concerns of body cameras -Sample videos -Police considerations -Limitations of body cameras A request for proposal (RFP) is anticipated to be put out by the City within 35-45 days. A public education portion will begin with the Mayor’s Neighborhood Roundtable and will be on-going. The demo process for SPD is also on-going, and the anticipated cost for the City is $140,000. The public is invited to attend and make comment on this initiative. Chief Duncan and Mayor Ireton look forward to the opportunity to hear from the public on this very important law enforcement matter.
