Mayor’s Task Force on Paid Sick Leave – Public Hearing The Mayor’s Task Force on Paid Sick Leave welcomes public input into its work. It will convene a public hearing to receive input on the current sick leave policies in Philadelphia and the likely impacts of mandated paid sick leave on employees and employers. • Date: Wednesday, August 6, 2014 • Time: 1pm-4pm • Location: Community College of Philadelphia, 18th and Callowhill Streets, Room C2-5 (Center for Business and Industry Building) • Testimony limited to 4 minutes per person • Please remember to bring photo ID for building access This is the first of two public hearings that the Task Force will hold. The first hearing is to seek preliminary public input. The second hearing in November will be to review preliminary findings. Those wishing to testify should notify Jacqueline Dunn of their intent to appear at [email protected] or (215) 686-5604 prior to August 6. Please bring copies of your testimony or submit them by email in advance. Those unable to attend can also submit remarks via email. About the Task Force In June 2014, Mayor Michael A. Nutter signed Executive Order No. 5-14, creating the Mayors Task Force on Paid Sick Leave. The Task Force is charged with evaluating Philadelphias current array of paid sick leave policies; how these policies compare to competitor cities and neighboring jurisdictions; and the likely impacts on employers and employees of mandating paid sick leave. The group is tasked with providing recommendations and accompanying report by December 2014.
