McAllen Tea Party Association Opening Statement Sep 11, 2014 Welcome to the McAllen/Hidalgo County Tea Party meeting. How many are here for the first time? We have gift of a pocket Constitution for you. You never know when it will win an argument for you. Anyone supporting the Constitution needs their own copy. Carry it with you proudly. Is everyone registered to vote? We will register you tonight. There are several Deputy Registrars. Ask your neighbors, family and friends. If they are not registered to vote, bring them to the next meeting and we will take care of it. Arrange transportation for them to get to the polls. The next meeting will be here—Sep 25th. Who listened to the President’s Speech last night? I was spared because I had a dinner engagement. I got to see the re-hash and hear the analyst’s descriptions of the speech. It sounds like it was almost Presidential. But why did it take so long? Maybe because this President is not Presidential. Remember that the Tea Party was founded within two months of his inauguration. Many of you have seen my Face Book posts. Every time someone posts something about the President and ISIS, I have one stock comment-FORE. After Foley’s beheading he was in such a hurry to get to his tee time. Pete asked me today if I believed President Obama’s speech. My answer was I fought a war with a Democratic President as Commander in Chief. He knew what I was talking about, as we are about the same age. I foresee the same micromanagement that we had in South East Asia. Every target in North Vietnam was approved in the Oval Office. We delayed launching on several occasions because they couldn’t make up their mind. Mission planning while in the air on the way to the target is not easy or safe. This President will be worse as he has no respect for the Constitution or the US Military. He bragged about 150 missions against ISIS. In a month? WOW. That should have been the first day. I was and am a strong believer in SHOCK AND AWE. Halfway measures in a war will get people killed. Our speaker tonight is a member of the military. He has served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has two Bronze Stars from that service. Hopefully he won’t have to go back to try for a third. When Judge Ricardo Rodriguez resigned as Judge for the 92nd District Court to run for District Attorney of Hidalgo County, Governor Perry appointed Jaimie Tijerina to fill the position. He now is running for re-election. He is receiving bipartisan support to retain the Judgeship. Please welcome Judge Jaimie Tijerina.
