McConnell and Morsi: The similarity that exists between Morsi, former President of Egypt, and Mitch McConnell, Republican Senate Minority of U.S. Senate, is stunning. Morsi, Leader of the Muslim Brotherhood promised that were he elected President of Egypt, he would have a balanced government that was inclusive with proper consideration provided to those who were not members of the Brotherhood. This reminds me of McConnell who assured the Majority Leader of the Senate that there was no need to change the rules of the Senate making only a simple majority of fifty-one percent to pass any legislation in the Senate. McConnell, who is controlled by the Tea Party, promptly reneged when the water hit the wheel in the voting process. Our Founders, who exercised their best efforts in erecting a wall of separation between politics and religion, the church and the state, would weep with regret could they but witness the effort exerted by the Tea Party to control and invade the private lives of American citizens by policies rooted in religious doctrine and mythological notions. Unfortunately, we have arrived at that point, symbolized by two different persons, in two different places on the globe but who share the same mental attitude, i.e., our way or no way, we rule or we ruin the nation, and in so doing demonstrate that we do not really care for all the people.
