Me - what do you fancy for tea? Alison - are you making plans already? You always make plans and we are on holiday! Me (in my best Jack Nicholson impersonation) - We live in a world that needs plans. I make plans or people starve! Whos gonna do it? You? Phoebe? Penny? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for your tea and you curse the Chef. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that my planning whilst on holiday, while tragic, probably saved you going hungry. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves you going hungry...You dont want the truth. Because deep down, in places you dont talk about at parties, you want me in that kitchen. You need me in that kitchen. We use words like honor, code, loyalty and pasta.....we use these words as the backbone to a life spent cooking something. You use em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a woman who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very planning I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! Id rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a pan and stand in a kitchen. Either way, I dont give a damn what you think youre entitled to!
