Me and Manhattan - TopicsExpress

Me and Manhattan My first working on my Art day. I woke up, went to pick up my canvas at the shop on 23nd Street between 7th and 8th ave and drove by car to Brooklyn with a very nice driver. I was there at 12.30pm and started to work. I almost finished two pieces so I think I will be okay. What is funny to work at a studio like this, it’s an open space studio where you work with other artist in one space. Everybody is doing his own thing. Nothing is Perfect, better or nicer. That is the beauty of Art. You can do whatever you want. Look at Herman Brood and Jean Michel Basquiat, even Karel Appel (who are all great examples for me) they all started with a white background. So you can draw or paint whatever you want!!!! The thing is, Just do it! One of the things I learned, next to having lunches, drinking wine, going out and meeting people, is how people are looking at you. Some people think I came in New York with a backpack. It’s hard work here to get things done. People don’t have time so you have to be straight to the point. Now time for bullshit. I had lunch across the street, got back to work, around 5pm I took the subway back to Manhattan, had a fish burger from Burger King at home Darren brought soul food. Then I heard that my dear dear friend his father just past a way today. So, things can change in just a second. I am very happy and proud that I am in New York, that I got or still have this opportunity to create my own story, my own experience and can do what I love to do. So to Y’All I wish you a great day.
