Me and Tej have discussed this sooo many times, weve been thinking well make an activity of this (which we will soon, maybe) but as I come in terms with the patriarchy in me, I feel its time we start sharing how patriarchy reigns in us, in some way or the other. Maybe as we share, well overcome these subconscious patriarchal mistakes. Let me explain using the example Tej referred to. Tej has two friends, a married couple. Let’s refer to them as Anish and Anisha. Tej drives very well herself but on a certain day when Anish and Anisha were visiting, she wasn’t in a position to drive. Tej automatically handed over the keys to Anish. But later when she was talking to them, she realized that both Anish and Anisha drive. Then why did she turn to Anish and not Anisha? According to Tej, this is the inherent patriarchy in you. This perception of male and female roles. Have you ever had similar experiences? Please do share.
