Me and my dad in 1974. I was in the U.S. Army. My dad silently suffered through terrible discrimination in the workplace. He saw himself as a wood craftsman, so the lay-offs were brutal to him. He found it hard to do anything else, yet he would. He was loyal to a fault to his factory and swallowed his pride, year after year as he was the first to get laid off and the last too be brought back - due to racial discrimination. BUT ~ he was an AMERICAN and would not let discrimination build resentment in his heart for the country that gave him a great opportunity. Thats what he told me anyway... His final years were spent happily retired and helping me restore Hope Chapel, a 100 year old church building, into a very nice place to worship. Dad did good.
