Me and my two friends went for a walk downtown and past a book - TopicsExpress

Me and my two friends went for a walk downtown and past a book store that had a quote out front that read, “Reality is merely an illusion.” I look to my friend on the right and say, “So is now an illusion?” My friend to the right goes, “Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so”-Douglas Adams. I look to my friend on the left and say, “I don’t think that’s true.” My friend to the left goes, “Sometimes people dont want to hear the truth because they dont want their illusions destroyed”-Friedrich Nietzsche. I turn to my friend on the right and say, “Are you guys making this stuff up?” My friend to the right says, “The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge”- Daniel J. Boorstin. I turn to my friend on the left and say, “I don’t know why I talk to you guys in the first place.” My friend to the left goes, “The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place”- George Bernard Shaw. I turn to my friend on the right and say, “I think you guys like messing with me.” My friend to the right says, “Illusion is the first of all pleasures”- Oscar Wilde. I look to my friend on the left and say, “Tomorrow I’m doing lunch alone.” My friend to the left says, “We are here to awaken from our illusion of separateness”- Thích Nhất Hạnh. I look to my friend on the right and say, “If that’s the case I’d rather be asleep.” My friend to the right says, “Perhaps it is better to wake up after all, even to suffer, rather than to remain a dupe to illusions all ones life” - Kate Chopin. I turn to my friend on the left and say, “What if everything is an illusion and nothing exists? In that case, I definitely overpaid for my carpet.” -Woody Allen. My friend to the left says, “You must remember, my dear boy, the most important rule of any successful illusion: First, the people must want to believe in it.” -Libba Bray. I look to my friend on the right and say, “I feel like I’m becoming dumb the more I listen to you two. My friend to the right says, “A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep” -Saul Bellow. I finally turn to my friend on the left and say, “With me, illusions are bound to be shattered. I am here to shatter all illusions. Yes, it will irritate you, it will annoy you - thats my way of functioning and working. I will sabotage you from your very roots! Unless you are totally destroyed as a mind, there is no hope for you” - Osho. My friend to the left then thunks me on the head, knocks me out and says, “Nothing in the real world is as beautiful as the illusions of a person about to lose consciousness” -Haruki Murakami. The End Author’s note: This was an idea I used awhile ago in my first 100 Daily thoughts. It’s been forever since I did the quote conversation based around one term so I thought I’d bring it back.. for nostalgia and all. P.S. When others asked the truth of me, I was convinced it was not the truth they wanted, but an illusion they could bear to live with.” ―Anaïs Nin
